Mean Green Look To Rebound Tonight Against Ark. State

JONESBORO, Ark. (1/9/08) The North Texas women’s basketball team looks to get back on the winning track tonight as they travel to face Arkansas State at 7 p.m. The Mean Green has lost two straight games in the Sun Belt Conference but can even its mark in the league at 2-2 with a win against the Lady Indians.

Arkansas State is 3-1 in Sun Belt Conference play and has won two straight games.

Since the start of Sun Belt Conference play junior Jo Hall has picked her play up to an all-conference level. It started with a career-high 25 points against Denver and hasn’t slowed down in the first three games. She is averaging 15.3 points and seven rebounds a game in conference play.

She is shooting the ball at a 54 percent clip in league play. Her rebounding totals, are second only to Amber Jackson in the Sun Belt Conference, are strengthened by her offensive rebounding numbers which are three a game. Hall came into the season having scored in double figures five times in her first two seasons at North Texas. This year she has reached double figures 10 times and counting.

Amber Jackson and Jo Hall’s emergence as scoring leaders has rubbed off on the rest of the team. North Texas over the last six games is shooting the ball at a 43 percent clip, which has improved its overall season shooting percentage to just over 40 percent.

North Texas is on pace for its best shooting season since the 2001-02 season. If the Mean Green continues its hot shooting, they could post the best shooting percentage since the 1995-96 season.
