DENTON, Texas - North Texas women's hoops enters the final stretch of its season in a logjam in the C-USA standings, but the win against Rice has coach Pete's crew flying high.

"It was a great bounce-back game after the road game at Tulsa," head coach Mike Petersen said. "It showed really good resiliency from a lot of our players, and I think it was a very complete effort both offensively and defensively."

Now the Mean Green will narrow its focus on La Tech, a historic program that is getting a boost from the return of its leading scorer from a year ago, Kelia Shelton.

"They're a program that has won national titles in women's basketball, they're used to winning," coach Petersen continued. "They have really good athletes that get to the rim, and they can rebound. With the addition of Kelia, they're adding someone who has led their team in scoring."

You can see the Mean Green fight for the eighth seed and a first-round bye heading into the conference tourney beginning with its scheduled date against La Tech on Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. in the Super Pit.
