Welcome UNT Students!

The Career Center exists to provide services to currently enrolled students in all academic majors and for all degree levels, as they seek to make career decisions, part-time employment while in school or full-time employment following graduation or certification. The Career Center is a liaison between students and employers representing education, business, industry, government and public service that seek to fulfill their hiring needs.

The Career Center can help with every aspect of your job search including career exploration, resume/cover letter writing, interviewing, and job search strategies. Career Advisors, who are assigned to specific colleges/schools, are ready to meet with you individually. Our online job posting system, Eagle Network, provides students and alumni access to part-time and full-time employment opportunities, as well as information on upcoming events (job/career fairs, mock interview days, career seminars, on campus interviews, etc.).

Alumni

As UNT alum, you are welcome to continue using the services and resources of the UNT Career Center for free. This is a lifetime service to you as a graduate of UNT. You are able to access the same services as any currently enrolled student. We are here to assist you whether just starting your job search or are thinking about a career change. Your connection to UNT does not have to end just because you graduated.

Career Advising

Career Advising (e.g., consulting and/or coaching on topics such as professional development, work-place communication, conflict management, career transitions, career research, resume preparation, networking, interview preparation, negotiation, social media etc.)

Alumni Career-Advising Appointments

If you would like to meet for an individual or group career-advising appointment for alumni with an industry-specific career advisor of the UNT Career Center, please call (940) 565-2105, email the Center at careercenter@unt.edu or sign up for one of the available times in the Eagle Network.*

Self-Assessment Instrument Administration and Interpretation

If you are interested in completing a psychometric-measurement instrument (e.g., Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, Strong Interest Inventory®, etc.) and having your personality, career-interests, skills-confidence, conflict-modes, and/or other scores and related careers interpreted for you, please schedule a career-advising appointment by calling (940) 565-2105 or emailing the Center atcareercenter@unt.edu. This service costs between $15.00 and $35.00 per instrument, depending on the instrument you complete, for the price of the Counseling Psychologists Press report you will receive.

Job Search

Network

Building your network can be done by connecting with professors, other campus offices/departments, attending conferences, organization meetings, and job fairs, collaborating on a project, and much more!  Collect business cards from everyone you meet and take a few notes so that you will always remember where/when/how you met that person.

When speaking of networking, it is also imperative that LinkedIn is mentioned.  LinkedIn is a great website where you can keep a public profile or resume of each job you’ve held, detailed descriptions about your experience and skills, and it is also the best and most professional place to connect with your network.  Send a quick, personalized, invitation on LinkedIn to those you meet as you build your network.

Twitter, so long as it is strictly a professional account, can also be a great place to connect with professionals, stay up to date on current trends in your field, and also search for jobs.

Remember to continue to always build and grow your network as often times, these people will be the key to helping you in your job search.

Conducting Industry/Employer Research

One of the biggest complaints that we often hear from employers is that interview candidates are not doing enough research about the job and/or company prior to the interview.  Conducting research prior to your interview is important to show that you are knowledgeable about the position and company and also shows that you’re genuinely interested.

How to register in the Eagle Network

To sign up for an individual appointment, group advising or an alumni career-service event, please access your Eagle Network account. If you don't yet have an account, please access the Eagle Network, register, and upload your resume. You will be prompted to contact the Career Center for your account to be activated. Once in the Eagle Network, you will be able to view and/or register for any Career Center event, service or job, including all alumni career services listed.
