DENTON, Texas - Attention Mean Green Nation, the North Texas basketball team is riding one of the nation's most impressive home court winning streaks, and on Saturday night NT will look to take it even further.
North Texas has won 14 straight home games, which checks in as the nation's 11th longest home-court stand. This stretch also ties for the third longest in the 93-year history of Mean Green basketball.
At 12-2 on the season, North Texas is off to its best start through 14 games since the 1952-53 squad. NT has won its last five games by an average of 19.0 points, and has held those opponents to 39.2 percent shooting. NT, on the other hand, has shot over 50 percent in each of those games - the most consecutive games over 50 percent in the Johnny Jones era. NT is shooting 53.1 percent on this five-game win streak.
George Odufuwa became the leading rebounder of the Johnny Jones era by passing Quincy Williams (04-08) on the career charts. The senior now ranks 9th in NT history with 702 career boards, which gives him a career average of 8.9. The Dallas native ranks 24th in the nation with 9.9 rebounds per game this year.
