DENTON, Texas (12/20/07) North Texas has used its stellar rebounding and explosive offense to jump out to a 7-2 record, which includes a 5-0 clip at home. The Mean Green puts that mark up against Centenary tonight at the Super Pit at 7 p.m.

The Mean Green has out-rebounded every opponent this year, and ranks 25th in the country in rebounding margin. NT is 18th in the country in scoring offense, and has racked up a dozen streaks of at least 10 unanswered points through nine games this year. Centenary owns an 11-9 edge in the all-time series with NT.

North Texas and Centenary (7-4) are meeting for the 21st time tonight. The Gentlemen hold the edge, 9-11, but haven’t faced the Mean Green since 1993. The pair first met in 1954 in an 85-72 Centenary win at the Snyder Tournament.

What To Watch For

For the first time in school history, North Texas has hit over 60 percent of its field goals in back-to-back games. The Mean Green knocked down 63.3 percent against Southern and 60.0 percent versus Hartford on Dec. 8.

Through just nine games, the Mean Green has had 12 separate runs of at least 10 unanswered points. NT used a 15-0 rally to erase an early Southern lead, and overcame a school-record 21-point deficit at New Mexico State.

North Texas is 5-0 at home for the first time since 1977-78, when Bill Blakeley’s squad went 14-0 at the Super Pit.

With a 7-2 record under its belt, North Texas has the opportunity to tie the third-best 10-game start in school history. The Mean Green began the 1952-53 campaign with an 8-2 mark, which was bested only by the 1975-76 and 1976-77 seasons’ 9-1 records.
