North Texas (4-6, 0-1) 83, Jackson State (0-5) 65
December 8, 2012, 7 p.m.
The Super Pit, Denton, Texas

Up next: North Texas hosts Southeastern Louisiana at the Super Pit on December 16. Game time is 1 p.m.

Tony Mitchell's 15-point, 11-rebound night was his third double-double of the season and his first since a 74-59 win over Lamar on November 13. It was his 15th career double-double.

North Texas snapped a four-game losing streak with Saturday's victory.

This was the fifth game of a season-opening 11-game road trip for Jackson State, which does not play a home game until January 6, when it begins Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The Tigers opened at Baylor, went to Tulsa, Texas Tech and Air Force before coming to Denton. From here they head west to St. Mary's and a three-game trip to the state of Washington.

Tony Mitchell got his 24th shot block of the season, giving him 94 in his brief Mean Green career and pulling him within four of second place on the all-time North Texas career mark. Jeffrey Simpson has the career record at 119, followed by Quincy Williams at 98 and Mitchell at 94.

Saturday's game was the third this year in which North Texas has held the opponent to under 40 percent shooting.
