Josh White Snags Third Player of the Week

DENTON, Texas - North Texas guard Josh White ignited the Mean Green's 92-83 win over Texas Tech last Tuesday, and today was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week by the league's coaches.

White, a Preseason First-Team All-Sun Belt selection, led North Texas to an overtime victory over the Big 12's Texas Tech with a 32 point explosion. White was 11-of-18 from the floor (61.1 percent), including the slashing runner with three seconds left in regulation that sent the game into overtime.

His exploits, which included a trio of 3-pointers and four steals, made the Mean Green the first "mid-major" to upset a Big 12 team in 2010-11. The senior also reached double-figures at Allen Fieldhouse on Friday against Kansas.  On the week, White was also 9-of-10 from the free throw stripe.

This is the third Player of the Week award for the senior, but the first since his freshman season of 2007-08.

White and the Mean Green take on Rice tonight at the Super Pit. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.
