DENTON, Texas - The Sun Belt Conference Tournament trophy has been raised and the championship rings have been handed out. Now, there's only one thing left to commemorate the North Texas basketball team's run to the NCAA Tournament, and it's for all the fans to see.
Head coach Johnny Jones and the Mean Green will raise their championship banners in a ceremony prior to the Texas Tech game at the Super Pit on Nov. 16. Tip time is slated for 7 p.m.
The Mean Green set a school record with 24 wins en route to their second Sun Belt title and NCAA Tournament trip of the last four seasons. NT has won at least 20 games in each of the last four years, a feat that only 35 other teams in the country can claim.
The 2010-11 season tips off on Nov. 12 against Henderson State at 5 p.m. at the Super Pit. The Mean Green will take on Arkansas-Monticello in exhibition action at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10.
