Denver and UL Lafayette Men In SBC Finals




DENTON (3/7/05) - Denver and Louisiana-Lafayette will compete for the Sun Belt Conference Championship in men's basketball action on Tuesday night at 8 pm on ESPN2.

Top-seeded Denver advanced to its first SBC Championship game after defeating Western Kentucky, 77-68, in the first seminfinal game on Monday night in the Super Pit. The second-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette men's team beat Florida International, 80-69, in the late game. The win puts UL Lafayette in the tournament finals for the third time in the last four years and the fourth since 2000.

UL Lafayette has won four SBC Tournament titles (1992, 1994, 2000, 2004) in its 14 tournament appearances. The Ragin' Cajuns has the opportunity to become back-to-back tournament champions on the heels of Western Kentucky, which won three straight titles in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
