This is the first loss for North Texas in its opening game of the Sun Belt Tournament since a 72-55 loss to Arkansas-Little Rock to close the 2005-06 season. Friday's loss to ULL snaps a three-season streak of reaching the SBC Tournament championship game.
Senior Roger Franklin concluded his collegiate career Friday night. Franklin was the third-leading scorer for North Texas this season, scored in double figures in 13 of his last 15 games, and was the only player on the team to start every game this season. Friday, he had 13 points and five rebounds.
In two games against Louisiana-Lafayette this year, Tony Mitchell had a total of 10 points and nine rebounds. Friday night, Mitchell had 10 points and 11 rebounds, the 20th double-double of his career.
