Day Two of SBC Tourney Is Complete




DENTON (3/5/05) - Three of the four No. 1 seeds in the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament advanced with victories in second-day action at the Super Pit. The fifth-seeded FIU men defeated top-seeded Arkansas-Little Rock, 69-64, to start off the second session.

On the women's side, top-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette and Western Kentucky both won their opening games of the tournament. The Ragin' Cajuns held off fourth-seeded FIU down the stretch for a 61-60 victory. FIU's Milena Tomova tied a tournament record with 32 points in the losing effort. The Toppers dominated Arkansas-Little Rock, 91-60, in the first session games on the women's side.

Top-seeded Denver defeated Arkansas State, 64-57, in men's action in the final game of the day.

The North Texas women play Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 1:30 pm.
