Basketball Teams In Action Tonight At Troy

Troy, Ala. (2/23/06) - The North Texas men's and women's basketball teams play Troy tonight in doubleheader action in the first of two consecutive road games against Sun Belt Conference West Division opponents to close out the regular season. Every North Texas men's game can be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The North Texas men enter the final week of the regular season two games behind second-place Denver in the Sun Belt Conference West Division standings and still has a shot at getting the division’s No. 2 seed at the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament. North Texas can ensure itself a .500 or better record for the third time in the last five seasons with a win in one of its final two regular-season games.

North Texas defeated Troy, 84-77, at the Super Pit on January 26 earlier this season in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The Mean Green women are tied for second place in the SBC West Division with Louisiana-Lafayette and one game behind South Alabama for the top spot. If North Texas wins its road games this week at Troy and at South Alabama, it will win the West Division.

Erika Bobo pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds against Denver, the most by a Mean Green player since Talicia Sanders had 18 last season against FIU. She recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points. Bobo is now just seven points away from becoming the 10th player in North Texas history to record 1,000 career points.
