GAME NOTES

  • North Texas’s team defense was outstanding, holding Denver to an opponent’s low of 48 points. That’s the fewest points a Mean Green opponent has scored since Cameron was held to 47 points in an 85-47 NT win last season in the season opener on Nov. 10, 2006.
  • NT’s defense also held the Pioneers to 18 first-half points, a season-low for a NT opponent this season and the fewest points in the first half by an NT opponent since Dec. 6, 2003 when the Mean Green entered halftime against Hardin-Simmons with a 56-18 lead.
  • Denver’s 18 first-half points were the fewest for an NT opponent in Johnny Jones’s tenure as Mean Green coach.
  • Senior Quincy Williams narrowly missed registering his fourth double-double of the season, ending with a game-high 17 points and 9 rebounds.
  • Williams’s 17 points marked his 12th double-figure scoring game this season.
  • Williams also established a new career high in assists by dishing out six against the Pioneers.
  • Every Mean Green player that saw action (9 players) scored at least two points and grabbed at least one rebound.
  • North Texas finished with 12 turnovers, marking the 6th time in the last 7 games that the Mean Green have committed 14 or fewer turnovers in a game.
  • UNT ended with three three-point fields, extending a streak of hitting at least one three-pointer to 560 consecutive games dating back to the 1987-88 season.
  • UNT now leads the Denver series by a 9-8 margin and the Mean Green have defeated Denver in 5 of the last 7 meetings.
