DENTON, Texas (2/07/08) North Texas head coach Johnny Jones and Western Kentucky skipper Darrin Horn both scored the 100th victory of their careers on Saturday. But rest assured the only thing that matters to these two coaches is winning No. 101 on Thursday.

North Texas wraps up its three-game home stand with the Hilltoppers. The Mean Green swept a pair of meetings with the WKU last year, who are led by former Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Courtney Lee. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CST, and can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network.

NT swept the pair of regular season meetings with Western Kentucky last year. The wins snapped a streak of seven straight Hilltopper victories over the Mean Green dating back to 2001. Keith Wooden hit the winning bucket with just seconds remaining to give the program its first ever win over WKU on Dec. 19, 2006.

What To Watch For

Mean Green head coach Johnny Jones recorded his 100th win at North Texas with the victory over Florida International. He is now just the third coach in school history to rack up 100 wins, and the first since Bill Blakeley (1976-83), who is the only coach to reach the milestone faster than Jones.

The last four games have seen a significant drop in turnovers for the Mean Green. NT committed just 12 turnovers against South Alabama and 13 versus FIU. North Texas has averaged 13.8 turnovers and a +3.3 turnover margin in its last four outings.

North Texas held Florida International to 44.4 percent shooting to improve to 12-1 this year when it keeps its opponent under 45 percent.

The Mean Green currently has the program’s all-time top team and individual 3-point percentages. As a team, North Texas is hitting at a 40.8 percent clip, and individually Josh White is shooting 50.0 percent from downtown.
