Men's Basketball Hosts Ragin' Cajuns Tonight

DENTON (2/3/05) - The North Texas men's basketball team will host seven of its final nine regular-season games at the Super Pit, beginning with a matchup tonight at 7 pm. The Mean Green hosts Louisiana-Lafayette, which is tied for first place in the SBC’s West Division. Every regular-season North Texas game can be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (12-7, 6-1) will be the third consecutive West Division opponent for the Mean Green, which is 2-2 so far against teams in its own division. NT is now 10-8 on the season and holds its best record through 18 games since 1994-95 when it was 12-6.

Thursday’s game will be the 18th meeting ever between North Texas and Louisiana-Lafayette, which played each other for the first time during the 1949-50 season. The Ragin’ Cajuns lead the series 11-6 and are 6-2 versus NT since the Mean Green joined the Sun Belt in 2001-02. The two teams split the season series last year, NT winning the last meeting 71-68 in Denton. The Mean Green has won two of the last three meetings at the Super Pit, also knocking off the Ragin’ Cajuns in 2001-02.

Today's game is Student Organization Night. The first 150-200 students to the game receive T-shirts. At halftime, 127 North Texas student-athletes will be recognized for their academic achievements in 2004.
