Game Notes

DENVER - North Texas begins a tough two game stretch against the Sun Belt Conference division leaders with a key West Division matchup at Denver on Saturday night. Tipoff from Magness Arena is slated for 5 p.m. Central.

NT has won the last five meetings against the Pioneers, including a 63-56 victory in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament last season. NT would go on to beat Troy in the finals and would represent the league in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in four seasons.

NT owns a 14-8 lead in the overall series with Denver. North Texas took the first meeting, 94-76, in 1968, and the return trip to Denton three years later, 72-68. NT is 4-6 all-time against DU in the Mile High City, but has won two of the last three meetings at Magness Arena.

Two of DU's three leading scorers hail from the same house in Mesquite, Texas; brothers Chase and Travis Hallam. Younger brother, Chase, leads the Pioneers with 13.0 ppg, while Travis isn't far behind at 8.9.

The Pioneers love the 3-pointer, and for good reason. Of DU's 862 shot attempts 382 (44.3 percent) of them are from beyond the arc, and they go in 41.6 percent of the time.

Josh White became the first player in NT history to record 1,500 points and 300 assists on Thursday night. The senior now has 1,546 career points and 302 assists, which ranks third in school history.

Tristan Thompson earned his third career Sun Belt Player of the Week award after a 30-point outing at ULM. The senior hit 10 of 12 shots on the Warhawks and leads the SBC with 18.0 points per game. Thompson ranks 4th in the NCAA in free throws made at 134.

Jacob Holmen notched his first career double-double at Louisiana-Lafayette with 15 points and 10 boards. The sophomore joins an exclusive club of NT players with double-doubles.
