NORTH TEXAS POSTGAME NOTES

 

  • Kendrick Davis has scored in double figures in 10 of the last 11 games.  Davis has scored 20 or more points in seven of 12 games.
  • NT’s 50 first-half points were the second most points in the opening half for the Mean Green this year.  The game marked the first time this year that North Texas has scored more points in the first half than the second.  Louisiana-Lafayette is just the third team to outscore North Texas in the second half.
  • Jeffrey Simpson scored in double figures for the fourth consecutive game and the sixth time in 12 games this season.
  • North Texas improved to 4-1 in Sun Belt openers under head coach Johnny Jones.
  • Louisiana-Lafayette set a new opponent season-high for blocked shots vs. North Texas with 17.
  • North Texas has recorded double-figure steals in seven of its last eight games and nine times for the season.
  • Michael Sturns has scored in double figures in seven of the last 11 games and in four of last six games.
  • This is the second time in the last four games that two UNT players have had three or more steals in the same game.
  • North Texas is now 7-1 at home this season.  The last time North Texas went 7-1 at home through eight home games was 1980-81.
  • North Texas won its fourth straight game for the first time since the 2003-04 season.  The last time a Mean Green team won five consecutive games was the 1995-96 season.
  • North Texas has scored at least 80 points in eight of 12 games this season.  The Mean Green scored 80 or more points five times for all of last season.  North Texas improved to 7-1 this season when scoring 80 or more points and is now 30-7 (.811) all-time under head coach Johnny Jones when posting at least 80 points in a game.
  • North Texas is 8-4 through its first 12 games for the second consecutive year and the second time during the Johnny Jones era.  The last time North Texas was 9-4 or better through its first 13 games was 1994-95.
  • North Texas had at least three players score in double figures for the 10th time this season.
  • North Texas’ bench outscored Louisiana-Lafayette’s 31-2.  The Mean Green’s bench has now outscored the opponents bench in 11 of 12 games.
  • Jeffrey Simpson moved into a tie for the second most blocks in school history.  Simpson picked up his 76th career block, tying him with Thomas Gipson (1990-92).
  • Quincy Williams recorded double-figure rebounds for the second consecutive game, finishing with a season-high 12 boards.
  • North Texas hit 24-of-31 free throws for a season-high percentage of .774.
  • North Texas improved to 5-1 this season when outrebounding its opponent.
