DENTON, Texas – Hoops fans rejoice, the North Texas basketball season is here. The Mean Green tip-off the 2013-14 exhibition season on Friday against Oklahoma City at the Super Pit at 7 p.m.

Friday’s exhibition is free, and is your first chance to catch Conference USA Player to Watch, Jordan Williams, in action. Williams led the Mean Green with 14.2 points per game in 2012-13, but averaged 18.5 points over the year’s final 13 games.

It will also be your first chance to see the Super Pit’s newest upgrade, a brand-new redesigned maple floor. The new floor will feature the Diving Eagle logo at center court, and completes an offseason of upgrades that included a new video board, sound system, shots clocks and practice facility.

Oklahoma City was tabbed to finish fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference (NAIA), and fell in their first exhibition game at Missouri, 73-48. The Stars are led by Kaleb Smith, who poured in 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting against the Tigers.

OCU, led by head coach Dionne Phelps, is the defending SAC champs, and are coming off an appearance in the NAIA Division I Tournament.

The Mean Green will be taking on Oklahoma City in exhibition play for the second time in three years. NT topped the Stars, 67-54, on Nov. 9, 2011, in what was Chris Jones’ first collegiate action. Jones posted 10 points and seven boards that night, and has since racked up 155 career assists in a Mean Green uniform.
