DENTON, Texas - Junior Jordan Williams recorded his first career double-double to lead the North Texas men's basketball team to a 75-61 win against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night at the Super Pit.

The Mean Green won its third straight game as the squad improves its overall record to 5-3 and 4-0 at the Super Pit.

"I thought our guys came out tonight with the right mindset," said North Texas head coach Tony Benford. "They played with a lot of energy and passion early and played hard. I thought we did a great job defensively in the first half. I thought offensively we executed and took good shots."

In his third year at North Texas, Jordan Williams has come close numerous times in his career to recording a double-double. He was one point shy of a double-double in the opening game this season and then was two rebounds shy last game.

With his 10th rebound coming near the end of the game tonight, Jordan Williams finally hit double-digit scoring and rebounding for the first time in his career. He was 4-for-10 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, finishing with 15 points.

Jordan Williams led four players in double-figures. Alzee Williams led the Mean Green with 18 points, Chris Jones chipped in 14 and Keith Coleman added 10.

Behind 50 percent shooting, the Mean Green quickly built a 10-point lead in the first half. Alzee Williams had 11 points in the first period, including five points from the free-throw line.

North Texas scored 22 points from foul line in the game after recording 25 last game against Incarnate Word.

"We talk about getting paint touches," said Benford. "That's putting pressure on the defense and getting the ball in the paint off a bounce or a pass. We did a great job of that. Alzee is great in transition. We want to try and make 22 free throws a game. Today we met that goal. We want to play inside-outside."

On the defensive side, North Texas held the Lions to just seven field goals and entered half ahead, 41-27.

North Texas kept a 10-digit lead throughout the second half. The Lions cut the lead to 12 points, 60-48, at 10:11, but Coleman hit two straight baskets, including a dunk, to keep the Mean Green ahead by double-digits.

After leading by more than 18 points, North Texas went four minutes without scoring to allow the Lions to cut the lead to 71-60 with 1:43 left in the game. The Mean Green scored four of the final five points to seal the win.

Scoring depth has continued to be an asset for the Mean Green this season. All nine active players scored at least two points in tonight's game. The Mean Green held the edge in rebounds, 45-37, and all nine players pulled down at least one rebound.

Colin Voss led the Mean Green in rebounding with 12 boards, a season high for him.
