Mean Green Takes Part In Make-A-Wish Surprise

March 11, 2016

“I’m just like, is this really happening?"

When Jeff and Jane Hale were told that their son, Pierson, would be granted his Make-A-Wish dream of going to the Monster Jam World Finals in Las Vegas, they began to plan a creative way to reveal the surprise to their 7-year old who is has battled a congenital heart defect his entire life.

The Hales, second generation North Texas alums, requested that Pierson’s favorite mascot, Scrappy, be a part of the reveal and the entire Mean Green Athletics department got behind the cause.

Scrappy and members of North Texas cheer and dance teams surprised Pierson in front of his classmates at school to break the big news that his Make-A-Wish had been granted. One of the members of the dance team even talked with Pierson about her personal experience with the Make-A-Wish Program.

The emotional connection could not have gone better with Pierson making one final wish – to have Scrappy join him at the Monster Jam World Finals.
