Scholarships
UNT Opera awarded over $80,000 in opera scholarships for both the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 academic years.
Margot Winspear opera scholarship
The College of Music’s supporter and opera afficianados, Margot and Bill Winspear, established the first Endowed Chair in Opera with a gift of 1.5 million dollars. It is awarded to a returning voice student, and is designed to encourage aspiring opera singers. Beginning in 2009, the award process was expanded to include public auditions and the input of a guest judge.

Other opera scholarships are awarded to new and returning voice students as well as to string students who play in opera productions. A scholarship of $1,000 or more allows for in-state tuition.
