TRiO Programs

Tori Nelson is one of the newer members of the UNT TRIO family, having come to us from Wisconsin in June 2014 to serve as the Director of the TRIO Upward Bound program.  Tori has worked with TRIO precollege programs for over 15 years and prior to coming to UNT was the Program Manager for the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium, a federally-funded program through NASA that works to promote STEM education to precollege and college students as well as the general public.  She has a BA in Psychology from Silver Lake College and an MA in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education from Lakeland College.

Eva Silvia Lozano

Ms. Lozano has been part of the UNT TRiO family since 1986 years; first as a participant in both Talent Search and Student Support Services, then as an Academic Advisor with Talent Search and now as the Assistant Program Director for Academic Development in Upward Bound. Ms. Lozano received her Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of North Texas in 1997. She did her internship with the Denton ISD Social Worker, worked for Catholic Charities in Dallas and worked at Denton County MHMR for 2 years before coming to the TRiO Center in 2001.

Susan Lee Torrey

Mrs. Torrey has worked with the UNT UB program since the summer of 2002. Beginning as a teacher in the summer and academic year, she taught French, Language Arts, and Composition. In her current role, as Student Specialist, she visits the students at their schools and coordinates the students’ participation in the annual Academic Bowl. She has a Master’s degree in French Literature with eleven years of teaching experience – nine in higher education and two in France.
