M.B.A. Students Present at Conference

Two students from the University of North Texas at Dallas School of Business, Kelli Strickland and Gwendolyn Pike, will present their research at the Industrial and Organizational Psychology conference (IOOP) at the University of Texas at Arlington April 1-2, 2016. Strickland and Pike are both graduate students in the UNT Dallas master’s of business administration program, and active members of the Student Human Resources Management organization.

This is the students’ second time presenting their research this year. Pike and Strickland previously presented their research at the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Region 6 conference in Ada, Okla. Their team won Best of Region 6 Student Showcase, and will present in June at the ACBSP International Conference in Atlanta, Ga.

“Working on this research project gives me the knowledge of what it will be like in the ‘real world’ after graduation,” Strickland said. “The amazing instructors and administration at UNT Dallas, have encouraged me and inspired me, giving me the confidence to complete this project each step of the way.”

“When we started this project, most of my contributions were behind the scenes, as I had a fear of public speaking,” Pike said. “Along the way, I vowed to overcome my fear so I could present at a conference. My professor, Dr. Elizabeth Muniz, encouraged me and kept reassuring me that I could do this and she had confidence in me. This project has taught me valuable lessons, solidified great friendships, and left our team feeling like rock stars!”

The IOOP conference encourages both graduate and undergraduate students studying industrial organization, organizational behavior, and human resources to attend to present their research and network with students, field professionals and academics.
