Which Residence Hall will I live in if I join a Living-Learning Community?

All offered Living-Learning Communities are housed in specific residence halls across campus to provide the best experience for our community members. The Living-Learning Communities vary in location and availability each academic year. Please see this years offered Living-Learning Communities and their locations here

How are roommates paired for Living-Learning Communities? Can I request a specific roommate?

Students interested in Living-Learning Communities have the opportunity to request a roommate of their choice; or simply be paired with a roommate from our housing assignments office.  If requesting a roommate, each student must apply for the same community in order to be paired in the same room. All requests are granted based upon availability. 

What is the cost of participating in a Living-Learning Community?

The only cost for joining in a Living-Learning Community is the associated cost of living in the Residence Hall in which the Community is located. 

Will I have the opportunity to continue participating in the Living-Learning Community if I change my major mid-semester?

If you change your major during the semester you will have the opportunity to continue in the Living-Learning community. However, if you desire to seek further housing options please contact the UNT housing department for additional housing opportunities. 

Are any faculty or staff members involved with Living-Learning Communities?

Staff members that are involved with Living-Learning Communities include Resident Assistants, Faculty, and Staff advisors that work closely with the RA to provide Community specific programming, along with mentoring resources for students involved in Living-Learning Communities

What type of programming will be implemented in Living-Learning Communities?

Living-Learning Community staff will implement programming relevant to their expertise. All programming efforts are directly related to increasing student awareness in career field, increasing student’s faculty and staff engagement, and increasing confidence in a student’s chosen major. 

Am I able to participate in a Living-Learning Community if my major doesn’t align with the community theme?

As members of Living-Learning Communities students are not required to have the same major as the theme for the community. However, we strongly encourage students involved to have a strong passion or interest in the community in which they apply.  

What if Living-Learning Communities isn’t offering anything that appeals to my personal interests or passions?
