EagleConnect Wave 15 Upgrade FAQ

What is occurring?

In Fall 2013, EagleConnect email was upgraded to Microsoft Office 365 Wave 15. OneDrive and Office Web Apps were applied to EagleConnect accounts on November 19, 2013. Office 365 Pro Plus was applied in the March 26th, 2014, bringing full installations of Microsoft Office to active student accounts.

Why are we performing this upgrade?

EagleConnect accounts are being upgraded to provide improved functionality and support.

What new features are included?

  • Your EagleConnect email account will now have Microsoft's Metro User interface. This means your inbox will have a more intuitive layout with a modern look and feel, as well as several new features that will make searching for and communicating with your classmates easier
  • OneDrive is now included with your EagleConnect account. OneDrive offers 50 GB of cloud-based storage so your files will be accessible from almost any web enabled device.
  • Office Web Apps are now available through your EagleConnect account. This means you have free online access to the Microsoft Office suite of web applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Office Web Apps and OneDrive allow you to work on, access, and share your documents through your web browser.

  • Office 365 Pro Plus allows 5 desktop installations of the latest Microsoft Office and 5 mobile installations of Microsoft Office

How does this affect my account

  • Your EagleConnect email account will move to the Office 365 platform wave 15. This will significantly change the way your account looks as well as adding a number of new features.
  • OneDrive, Office Web Apps, and Office 365 Pro Plus will be added to your account
  • Your EagleConnect email account now offers 50GB of storage.

When is this occurring?

The migration is scheduled to occur from October 27th - March 26th.

  • October 27th, 2013 - October 30th - Accounts will be upgraded to Office 365 Wave 15
  • November 19th, 2013 - OneDrive and Office Web Apps will be added to current student EagleConnect accounts
  • March 26th, 2014 - Office 365 Pro Plus will be applied to current student EagleConnect accounts

Will I be able to log in during the Upgrade?

Yes, during the upgrade you will be able to access your email. If your account starts upgrading while you are logged in you will be asked to log out and log back in. It is possible that your mailbox will be inaccessible momentarily during this process.

What will the log-in page look like?

  • When you go to log from the eagleconnect.unt.edu website you will be directed to a page that states "You are entering a UNT authenticated service -Please log in"
  • Log in using your EagleConnect address (firstlast@my.unt.edu) and UNT Password.
  • Do not bookmark this page. If you would like to create a bookmark please use https://eagleconnect.unt.edu.

How will I access my email after the upgrade?

Now that the upgrade is complete I cannot log in.

  • Please verify that you are using the correct Username and Password.
  • If you are using the correct username, but still cannot log in, please verify you are using the correct password by logging into our Account Managent System (AMS) at ams.unt.edu.
  • If you have verified that you are using the correct Username and Password, but still cannot log in to EagleConnect please contact us.

Will my email address change?

  • Your email address will remain the same.

Will my Log-in information change?

  • Your username and password will not change will not change, you will continue to use firstlast@my.unt.edu as your username.

How will I access OneDrive and Microsoft Office Web Apps?

  • OneDrive and Microsoft WebApps will be accessible from the OneDrive tab inside of your EagleConnect account.

Can I still access my old SkyDrive account?

How can I transfer files from my old SkyDrive account to the new OneDrive?

Will I need to make changes on my Phone or Tablet?

  • If you use an app on your phone or tablet, you may need to change the incoming and outgoing server settings on your phone. More information regarding how to determine incoming and outgoing server settings can be found here.

Will I need to make changes on my email Client?

  • If you are using Microsoft Exchange Active Sync, when configuring your account set your server name to m.outlook.com.
  • If you are using IMAP/POP or other protocol more information regarding how to determine incoming and outgoing server settings can be found here.

I use my EagleConnect for Microsoft Live, what effect will this have?

  • You will still be able to access your MS Live account using your EagleConnect account and password.
  • The password for this account will still be updated at https://ams.unt.edu, and will remain synchronized with your other UNT accounts.

Error Message: This account can't be used to access Outlook.com

  • Use the following steps if you receive the error message: "You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account)."
  • Close and then open your browser.
  • Navigate to eagleconnect.unt.edu.
  • Click on the "Sign in to EagleConnect" button
