The chancellors of Texas’ top university systems defended their ambitious expansion plans to lawmakers Wednesday and some pushed back against the idea of more oversight of their growth. AUSTIN – Governor Abbott has appointed Michael Truncale of Beaumont to the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board for a term set to expire February 1, 2021. The board oversees the Texas Tuition Promise Fund and the Texas College Savings Plan.

Kilgore College elects first female president

KILGORE (KYTX) – The first woman president in Kilgore college history will begin her term January 2016.

Dr. Brenda Kays was unanimously appointed by the Kilgore College Board of Trustees on Monday night. Kays formerly served as president of Stanly Community College in North Carolina.

Kays is also a former Vice President of Student Learning and Success at Guliford Technical Community College in North Carolina and former Chief Academic Officer and Dean of Instructional Services at Vernon College in Texas.

She earned a Master of Education in counseling from Midwestern State University and a Doctorate of Education...
