Little Elm ISD top 20 percent students to receive automatic admission into UNT

High school can be stressful, but the University of North Texas is working to alleviate some of the stress for parents and students alike by offering instant admission into UNT to select students in the district. 

On Friday, LEISD Superintendent Lowell Strike will sign an agreement to officiate that offer by entering the district into UNT’s Eagle Advantage program, which guarantees admission to all juniors and seniors in the top 20 percent of their class who apply to UNT.  Juniors can only apply toward the end of the school year.

Repeal of a no-interest college loan program will have hundreds of incoming students looking for other ways to pay for higher education this year.

Lexi Clark, an incoming freshman at the University of North Texas this fall, was second on a waiting list of more than 400 incoming UNT students hoping to receive the loan that covers $4,000 in tuition each semester.

 

 

    

 

Financial advisers assured Clark she would get it, but just months before the first day of school, Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill that ended the program.

UNT Board of Regents approves medical school collaboration with TCU

The University of North Texas Board of Regents gave the university the green light Monday to move forward with plans to open a medical school in collaboration with Texas Christian University.

The school will be on the UNT Health Science Center campus in Fort Worth and will offer an allopathic medicine degree, making it the first M.D. school in the city. UNTHSC, which is about four miles from TCU, has had an osteopathic medicine program.

Allen ISD and the University of North Texas have joined together to offer the “Eagle Advantage” to students at Allen High School. The program offers juniors in the top 20 percent at the end of their fall semester the opportunity to receive guaranteed admission to UNT.

High-achieving juniors in the Gainesville Independent School District are now guaranteed admission to the University of North Texas through UNT’s Eagle Advantage program.

Juniors in Gainesville ISD who rank in the top 20 percent of their class will earn guaranteed admission to UNT. In addition, this year’s Gainesville ISD seniors who rank in the top 20 percent will be grandfathered into the program, receiving automatic admission to UNT. After Fall 2015, guaranteed admission will apply only to juniors.
