Death notices for those we’ve lost - faculty, staff and student employees - may be published in the Obituaries section. Write and edit the notice in a Word document. After you have written and proofed the information, you may post it for moderation and publication. A portrait-style photo may be submitted.

The deceased’s dates of employment at UNT will be verified with Human Resources, and the death verified by the national Obituary Registry, family, coworkers or published information. Each obituary should not exceed 150 words. This information is needed:

• Complete name. 
• Date of death, age at death.
• Town or city of residence.
• Position at UNT  and years spent working at the university.
• Information about involvement with students, i.e., advisor to organization, earned a teaching award.
• Veteran status.
• Surviving spouse or partner.
• Designated recipient of memorials or donations, if a UNT program.
• Date and location of services, if post is prior to service.

Title: Candy King, Department of Biological Sciences

Text: Candy King, 62, of Ponder, died Oct. 7. She worked at UNT for more than 20 years in the Department of Biological Sciences. She is survived by her husband Darryl King.  (31 words)

Title: Frank L. Collins, director of training, Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine Doctoral Program

Text: Frank L. Collins, 58, of Denton, died Dec. 19. He joined UNT in 2007. Collins, professor of psychology, was director of training for the Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine Doctoral Program. Survivors include wife, Jennifer Callahan, assistant professor of psychology. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 22 at DeBerry Funeral Directors chapel, 2025 W. University. Donations may be made to the Frank L. Collins Scholarship Fund in the Department of Psychology. (75 words)

Title: Harve D. King, former associate dean and pioneer African American administrator

Text: Harve D. King, 89, one of UNT’s pioneer African American administrators, died Jan. 26 in Austin. He joined UNT in 1969 as assistant dean of students and was appointed associate dean in 1983. He retired in 1986. He was known for his efforts to encourage and support students. King served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 in the Pacific Theater during World War II.  He is survived by wife Elinor of Austin. Services will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at Freedom Home Baptist Church, Austin, with burial at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. (96 words)
