Haiti YMCA Responds to Hurricane Matthew Disaster

On October 3, Hurricane Matthew, a violent Category 4 storm with winds of up to 145 mph, made landfall in Haiti, flooding homes in vulnerable coastal communities and forcing residents to seek shelter. Matthew is the strongest storm to hit the Caribbean in almost a decade. Through its local networks, the Haiti YMCA will be able to support children and families directly impacted by the disaster. They will provide basic supplies, services and shelter as capacity allows in the ten communities where the Y is present. Click here to learn more. To help the Haiti YMCA respond to the devastating hurricane, please click here to make a secure, online donation and add “Haiti YMCA Hurricane Fund" in the special comments/instructions box.

YMCA World Service

Did you know that the Y is in 119 countries? Like Ys in the U.S., Ys around the globe respond to community need with programs and services that help people to reach their full potential.

YMCA of the USA's World Service Campaign raises support for the powerful work of Ys worldwide, which often operate in challenging environments. In many communities, the Y is the only place where a child can access a library, a teen can learn about HIV/AIDS prevention or a parent can develop job skills for better family stability.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to discover what they can achieve and when you give to World Service, you'll help Ys reach more people with life-changing programs. To learn more, download the campaign brochure or email worldservice@ymca.net.
