*TCOM, PA, DPT orientation agendas are posted on each academic program page.

On behalf of the New Student Orientation Team, welcome to the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC)! UNTHSC is a microcosm of Fort Worth, our city. We are an urban campus located in the heart of the cultural district. We have a culturally diverse faculty, staff and student body. And though we are small by comparison to some academic medical centers, we excel in every area of our mission – education, research, patient care and community service.

It won’t take you long to develop a real sense of pride about being a UNTHSC student.  You are the reason we are here. We will depend on you not only to be successful in your career but to be a spokesperson for this institution now and in your future career. It is our job to make sure we deliver on our promise to help make it happen for you.

Orientation is a mandatory event for all incoming UNTHSC students. You will learn about academic and community expectations, campus culture, as well as services and resources available to students. Administrators, faculty, staff and students will be present throughout the sessions to answer questions and give advice about your educational future.

Enjoy orientation and good luck as you plunge into your first classes.

NOTES FOR ALL NEW UNTHSC STUDENTS:

1). Punctuality: Throughout your education and in your professional career, the habit of tardiness is one of the single most destructive traits you can possess. We ask that you be on time for orientation, every class, workshop, and meeting that you attend. It is a matter of courtesy to your fellow participants, orientation organizers, and session speakers. All orientation sessions are mandatory unless otherwise indicated. Failure to attend every session may result in dismissal.

2). Attire: Dress for orientation is business casual (excluding when your ID Picture is taken). However, it is important that you comply with the UNTHSC student dress code at all times when on our campus or off-site clinics. The direct link to the dress code in the Student Handbook is:http://www.hsc.unt.edu/policies/PolicyStorePDF/Student%20Dress%20Code%20Policy.pdf.

3). Please do not bring a spouse, parent, guest, child, etc. with you to orientation. Orientation programs are designed for incoming students only. Any individual not accepted into a graduate program will be asked to leave.

4). All meals served at UNTHSC New Student Orientation include vegetarian options. If you have special dietary restrictions that include allergies to certain foods, please complete the form below at least 2 weeks prior to your orientation.  We will notify you of whether meal accommodations will be possible.

If we are unable to provide meal accommodations, please plan to bring your own food for the duration of orientation.

5)  ADA Accommodations

If you need an accommodation to fully participate in New Student Orientation, please contact Kristina Clark, Center for Academic Performance, at 817-735-2134. Please submit requests at least 4 weeks prior to your orientation to allow sufficient time to arrange the accommodation.

6) Lactation Rooms

The lactation rooms are available on Levels 2 and 4 of the Library. Each room has a locking door, small table, a sink with soap and paper towel dispensers, a large chair, and two outlets. Students are welcome to use these facilities during New Student Orientation.
