The Department of Art Education and Art History in the College of Visual Arts and Design is committed to enhancing students’ understanding of contemporary and past visual art forms. Within and between its comprehensive degree-granting programs, the department provides students and faculty with the opportunity to examine global artistic production, relevant technologies, critical methods, learning theories and innovative approaches to pedagogy and knowledge acquisition.

Medieval Art History M.A. students Jena Jones, Sarah Shivers, & Rachel Hiser were accepted to the Newberry Center for Renaissance Studies Fall Research Methods Workshop for Early-Career Graduate Students. The workshop, titled “Introduction to Medieval Studies at the Newberry” was held on Nov 7th in Chicago at the Newberry Library.

Congratulations to Art History MA alumna Annette Becker. Annette has accepted a position as Assistant to the Director of the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas. While an undergraduate at KU, she had worked there as Education Department Assistant.
