This project, located in the Medical Center, is called a grade separation. TxDOT plans to run Medical Drive under Fredericksburg Road to make Medical Drive a street uninterrupted by traffic signals at the busy intersection.

Ultimately, this project will improve safety provide a faster route to medical facilities for emergency services vehicles. The estimated total project cost is $14.6 million, paid for through gas taxes and other traditional means. Construction is broken up into four incentives-laden phases; the entire project is expected to last 24 months.
