TxDOT - along with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) - is introducing some of the most innovative congestion management solutions in the country. By employing new managed TEXpress Lanes, we will offer drivers a choice in their daily commute. TEXpress Lanes are variable tolled lanes alongside traditional non-tolled lanes. In the near future, several major TxDOT roads will open with TEXpress Lanes, allowing drivers to maintain a minimum 50 mph rate of speed. You can choose to drive on non-tolled improved general highway lanes or pay for a faster, more reliable commute on the TEXpress Lanes.

TEXpress Lanes are unique variable managed toll lanes added within existing non-tolled major roadways to provide extra capacity and efficiently handle more traffic volume. The new TEXpress Lanes system is designed to provide North Texas drivers with:

TEXpress Lanes are being constructed on seven major Dallas-Fort Worth corridors.
