UntitledSept. 13-19 is Child Passenger Safety Week. Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children age 13 and under. Car seats, booster seats and seat belts save lives. In 2013, among children under the age of 5 in cars, an estimated 263 lives were saved by child restraints.

Most parents are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat, but in most cases (59%) the seat has not been installed correctly. Saturday, September 19 is National Seat Check Saturday. The Teens in the Driver Seat program has partnered with the Texas Department of Public Safety and Safe Kids Austin to host a safety seat check at Highland Mall in Austin, Texas on Sept. 19 from 8 AM to 11 PM. Come out and have a certified technician check your child’s car seat for free. Questions? Email SafeKidsAustin@seton.org.
