Loy Lake Bridge Improvement Project

Why Improvements are Necessary

The bridge has met capacity and traffic often stalls across the bridge onto Loy Lake Road. TxDOT is planning to widen the bridge to improve safety and relieve congestion.

Project Includes

  • Widening the existing roadway from two to four lanes plus adding left-turn lanes
  • Improving aesthetics, including colored/textured concrete in the island medians and painting the bridge

Schedule and Cost

Construction began in May 2014 and will last about 12 months. The estimated construction cost for the improvements is $5.6 million.

Ragle Construction Inc. is the contractor.

Details

Loy Lake Bridge will be widened by two lanes and one left turn lane in each direction.

The City of Sherman will oversee the widening of Loy Lake Road to a four-lane roadway south of Sarah Swamy Drive, which will include construction of a right-turn lane and installation of a traffic signal at that intersection.
