I-35W is a north-south corridor through Fort Worth, Haslet and Burleson. As funding is identified, future widening is planned from I-30 to SH 114.

TxDOT and the region are using public-private partnerships to accelerate construction on I-820, SH 121/183 and portions of I-35W by combining express lanes and high occupancy vehicle lanes (HOV) within a comprehensive development agreement as part of the North Tarrant Express.

Construction began in 2013 on a $1.6 billion project to rebuild 10 miles of I-35W from north of I-30 to North Tarrant Parkway to double the existing capacity by adding four toll managed lanes, auxiliary lanes and some frontage roads. This project is being built in two segments:

Segment 3A
I-30 to I-820 (6.5 miles)

  • Est. completion: 2018
  • Total Cost: $1.4 Billion
  • Developer: NTE Mobility Partners Segment 3 (NTEMP3)

Segment 3B
I-820 to North Tarrant Parkway (3.6 miles)

  • Est. completion: 2016
  • Total Cost: $244 Million
  • Developer: TxDOT and Lane Construction Corporation (contractor)

The map provided below shows past and future projects with the greatest impact on this corridor. The map's history timeline and traffic counts are also broken out separately for easier access.
