The scope of this study is a 6.5-mile section of FM 2978 from Conroe-Hufsmith Road to FM 1488 in Montgomery County.

Current Conditions

The current road is undivided with two 12-foot travel lanes, 7.5-foot outside shoulders and open ditches.

Proposed Improvements

The proposed project consists of the following:

• Widen FM 2978 to four 11-foot travel lanes divided by a 16-foot-wide center turn lane
• Add five-foot outside shoulders to accommodate bicycles
• Add a four-foot sidewalk in various locations on the east side of FM 2978
• Replace Dry Creek bridge

No displacements are anticipated; 17.09 acres of new right of way is required for detention ponds.
