Brian R. Barth, P.E., is the district engineer for the Fort Worth District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). He oversees the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system for the district, which comprises nine counties: Erath, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise.

A 27-year member of the TxDOT family, Barth began his career as an engineering assistant in the Dallas District after graduation from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. In 2003, Barth was appointed as the Dallas District's director of transportation planning and development. From 2009 to 2013, Barth served as the Fort Worth District's deputy district engineer, providing joint oversight and development of the DFW Connector, North Tarrant Express, I-35W, I-30, and Chisholm Trail Parkway.

While implementing $5 billion in public-private partnerships, Barth worked with the Texas Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (TEMPO) to forecast future revenues for transportation over the next two decades. In 2013, Barth oversaw a statewide initiative to streamline the procurement of professional engineering services in an effort to help TxDOT deliver the most transparent and cost-effective projects.

Appointed as Fort Worth district engineer in November 2013, Barth serves on the Regional Transportation Council of the North Central Texas Council of Governments working to solve Metroplex-area transportation issues. Under Barth's direction as district engineer, he also oversees over $800 million in construction work each year in addition to major projects on I-35W, SH 360 and the I-30/SH 360 interchange.
