US 59 from Spur 10 to SH 99

Study Description

The proposed improvements include widening US 59 from Spur 10 to SH 99 from a four-lane divided highway with discontinuous two-lane frontage roads, in Fort Bend County, Texas.

The overall project includes:

  • Widening of existing roadway
  • Construction of continuous two-lane frontage roads where they are currently discontinuous
  • Grade separation/interchange improvements at various intersections
  • Construction of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes

Project Design Changes

In response to public and local government concerns and comments regarding access and safety expressed at a public hearing on May 16, 2013, a revaluation was conducted and the following design changes were made by TxDOT:

  • The project's additional right-of-way requirements have been reduced and would now require no displacements
  • US 59 mainlanes are now proposed to go over FM 762 and Reading Road
  • At FM 762, a new access road connecting the park & ride facilities on the north and south sides of US 59 would also be constructed
  • Reversed exit ramps between:
    • Spur 10 and Cottonwood Church Road
    • Cottonwood Church Road and Kroesche Road
    • Kroesche Road and Bamore Road
    • Southbound Reading Road ramp
