Wichita Falls District Engineer

Larry D. Tegtmeyer, P.E.Larry D. Tegtmeyer, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Wichita Falls District.

The district comprises nine counties: Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cooke, Montague, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, and Young.

As district engineer he oversees the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of roadway projects throughout the North Texas region. The district let more than $39.5 million in construction contracts last fiscal year. Another $52.5 million in construction contracts are expected to be let this fiscal year. During his career in Wichita Falls, Tegtmeyer has administered the construction of the district's second and third largest projects including an over $43 million contract to build a new alignment for US 277 in Baylor County and the Falls Flyover, a $32 million interchange in the heart of Wichita Falls connecting four major roadways  US 287, US 281, US 277, and US 82.

Tegtmeyer is originally from Iowa where he graduated from Iowa State in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He worked for a few years in the Waco District before moving to Dallas. As the Area Engineer for Northwest Dallas he supervised the construction of the Dallas High Five Interchange at I-635 and US 75. He also served as the Dallas District Director of Construction where he managed $1.3 billion in construction.
