Study Description

The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to FM 1560 and SH 16 in Helotes.

Current Conditions

Currently a four-lane divided roadway, with two lanes going north and south.

Proposed Improvements

The proposed improvements include the realignment of FM 1560 from Riggs Road to SH 16 (Bandera Road) and a superstreet concept for SH 16 (Bandera Road) from Loop 1604 to Triana Parkway.

The proposed realignment of FM 1560 from Riggs Road to SH 16 (Bandera Road) will improve operational functioning and safety of the FM 1560 and SH 16 intersection. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2016.

The proposed unfunded, superstreet concept for SH 16 (Bandera Road) from Loop 1604 to Triana Parkway will replace existing crossovers and signalized intersections with dedicated turnaround lanes and direct left turn lanes. Signals would also be coordinated to improve through movements on SH 16.
