Lubbock District Engineer

Douglas Eichorst, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Lubbock District.

The district comprises 17 counties: Bailey, Castro, Cochran, Crosby, Dawson, Floyd, Gaines, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Parmer, Swisher, Terry and Yoakum.

Eichorst entered the workforce in 1975 delivering newspapers in Belleville, Ill.  He worked at various jobs until he joined TxDOT's Abilene District as an engineering assistant in August 1987 after receiving bachelor's degrees in civil engineering technology and civil engineering from Texas A&M University.

He was promoted to assistant area engineer in 1990. He received his license as a professional engineer in 1993. In 1994 he took over as the Abilene District design engineer. In 1997, Eichorst moved to the Odessa District as the Pecos area engineer, and in 1998 he was promoted to Midland area engineer. In 2005, he was honored with the Gibb Gilchrist Award in recognition of outstanding service in highway engineering with TxDOT. In March of 2009 he was named the Lubbock District engineer. Since 2009, he has been working for the people and communities of the Lubbock District.
