Abilene District Engineer

Stan Swiatek, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Abilene District.

The district comprises 13 counties: Borden, Callahan, Fisher, Haskell, Howard, Jones, Kent, Mitchell, Nolan, Scurry, Shackelford, Stonewall and Taylor.

He oversees the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system for the district. He joined TxDOT in 2012 and previously served as the director of transportation planning and development for the Amarillo District. 

A 30-year engineering veteran, Swiatek began his career in 1982 as a construction engineer with Asea Brown Boveri Inc., working on various petrochemical and power plant projects throughout the eastern United States.

In 1993, he joined the Florida Department of Transportation and held various titles during his 17-year tenure there, from resident engineer to operations manager. He then worked for two years as an area manager for a private consultant engineering firm in Florida.

Swiatek earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Penn State University in 1982 and a master's in business administration from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 1989.
