Paul Montgomery, P.E.

Paul Montgomery, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Paris District.

The district comprises nine counties: Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Grayson, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Rains and Red River.

A 25-year agency veteran, Montgomery started his TxDOT career in 1988 in Tyler. Eight months later he transferred to Mineola, where for two years he served as an engineering assistant involved in the design, construction and maintenance of highways. He then spent two years in the district design section in Tyler before being elevated to assistant area engineer in the Jacksonville Area Office.

While in Jacksonville, Montgomery oversaw the design, construction and maintenance of highways and bridges, including a unique project involving the replacement of nine bridges of the Texas State Railroad for Texas Parks and Wildlife. In 1995, he became assistant director of maintenance in the Tyler District. He was named the Waco District's director of maintenance in 1998. In that role, Montgomery was responsible for all district maintenance operations and was one of the lead individuals in the development and implementation of TxDOT's first total maintenance contract. He was selected as the Lufkin District director of maintenance in 2003.

Montgomery earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in 1987 and became a licensed professional engineer in 1993.
