Precinct 1 stretches from the Southwest corner of the county, beginning west of Benbrook, following Fort Worth neighborhoods to north of Arlington then south toward Everman, Forest Hill, Town of Edgecliff Village, Crowley and Burleson. Precinct 1 combines urban and rural communities along with diversity of its citizenry.

HEALTHY LIVES MATTER ALZHEIMER'S EDUCATION SEMINAR

The 5^th Annual Healthy Lives Matter Virtual Alzheimer’s Education Seminar was held on Saturday, August 22, 2020.  Over 90 participants joined in our first ever virtual event offering dementia support topics and other essential resources for family caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Sessions included a focus on brain health, caregiver life balance, advance care planning, elder abuse/elder fraud, Alzheimer’s risks in women, and building a more dementia-friendly community.   Commissioner Brooks shared his own personal story as a caregiver and how this devastating disease not only impacts a family or a community, but an entire nation.

The event was made possible and offered free of charge by the generous support of our partners and sponsors: Alzheimer’s Association North Central Texas Chapter, United Way Area Agency on Aging, University of North Texas Health Science Center (Center for Geriatrics), Dementia-Friendly Fort Worth, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Texas Health Resources, and Baylor Scott & White.

How Tarrant County is Preparing for the 2020 Census

The next national Census will be taking place in April 2020. Every 10 years, all U.S. residents, regardless of citizenship status, are required to be counted. Tarrant County is working with area cities and local partners to encourage everyone, including those who live in hard-to-count areas, to take part.

Why is it important?

The Census impacts federal funding, the number of Congressional seats for each state, redistricting, economic development and quality of life. But the Census is legally bound not to share your information with other government agencies.

What to expect in the mail

On or between, you will receive:
March 12-20
An invitation to respond online to the 2020 Census. (Some households will also receive paper questionnaires.)

March 16-24
A reminder letter.

March 26-April 3
A reminder postcard.

April 8-16
A reminder letter and paper questionnaire.

April 20-27
A final reminder postcard before we follow up in person.

Tarrant County Hospital District Bond

In November of 2018, Tarrant County voters approved the Hospital District Bond. The bond consisted of the issuance of $800,000,000 by Tarrant County on behalf of the Tarrant County Hospital District for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, equipping or enlarging facilities of the hospital system, including, but not limited to, a new mental health and behavioral health hospital, a new main hospital tower for general and specialized patient care – physician nurse training – and Level One Trauma Care, a new cancer center, four new regional health centers, and a new ambulatory surgical center.
