The cleanup crew continues to work on the hazardous material spill on US 287 between Childress and Memphis (at Newlin).

Removal of the truck trailer has begun. As soon as the truck is removed, the hazardous material crew will begin removing the contaminated soil in the ditches. No timelines of when the cleanup will be complete and the road reopened can be provided at this time. Please plan alternate routes and expect delays.

**TRAFFIC ALERT - US 287 - HALL COUNTY**

US 287 is closed in Hall County just north of Newlin at the Gresham curve. This location is approximately 16 miles north of Childress.

A truck overturned in the center median spilling a hazardous material. Traffic is being diverted to SH 256 and US 83. Flaggers are in place at Walmart in Childress detouring traffic back to SH 256 via US 83 northbound. Flaggers are also directing traffic at the Hollis Y on US 83 detouring traffic to... SH 256, and at the US 287/SH 256 intersection in Memphis.

Message boards are in place directing Northbound traffic to detour to US 83 at the US 83 and SH 256 intersections.

The hazmat team is on its way. his closure is expected to last several hours.

**Tyler District Project Update - US 79 in Henderson**

TxDOT will be performing a two-month-long renovation of US 79 in Henderson. The 4.4 mile project runs from FM 225 to the Star (the intersection of US 79/SH 64/SH 43/US 259). The project is expected to begin September 8 with an expected completion in November.

Travel and Safety Considerations:

Work will be conducted at night, Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. in an effort to minimize impacts to traffic.

Watch for flaggers, message signs, cones and barricades, and plan for brief delays.

Access to businesses will be temporarily affected as machinery passes driveways; with access restored as soon as possible.

Be aware of potentially rough pavement conditions.

Slow down and pay attention in the construction zone.

***** Lubbock Metro Traffic Alert *****

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to close Milwaukee Avenue, under the MSF bridge, to continue concrete paving work at the intersection. The work and closure is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m., today, with traffic detoured around the area.

Northbound Milwaukee drivers will be detoured around the work zone via Loop 289 and Spur 327. Southbound Milwaukee traffic will use Upland Avenue to reconnect with Milwaukee.

Drivers are urged to seek an alternate route around the area.

The intersection will reopen late afternoon this Monday, Aug. 31. The closures and work will take place weather permitting.
