RESILIENCY DAY
A program for Suicide Prevention Resiliency Day will be held Sept. 10 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Abrams Physical Fitness Center, Bldg. 23001, 62nd Street
and Support Avenue. The program will host a variety of activities that will focus on building resiliency and suicide prevention awareness.

SPRINT TRIATHLON
The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host a Sprint Triathlon at 8 a.m. Sept. 12 at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area.
The event will include a 300-meter swim, 12-mile bike course and a 5K run. Pre-register cost for DoD cardholders is $10 and $15 for non-ID holders.
On-site registration cost for DoD ID holders is $12 and $20 for non-cardholders. On-site registration is from 7-7:30 a.m. To pre-register, visit

RISING STAR COMPETITION
Operation Rising Star auditions will be Sept. 10, 11, 18 and 25 at 7 p.m. each night at the Phantom Warrior Center.
The competition is open to active duty, Reserve, National Guard or military Family members, 18 years of age and older with a valid DoD ID card.
Operation Rising Star is an individual singing competition. Similar to American Idol and other televised competitions, participants are judged by a
panel of judges and by an audience of their peers. Singers compete each week for the chance to win the local first-place prize - $750. The winner of the
local Fort Hood Operation Rising Star Competition moves on to the Army wide competition, where the winner records, mixes and masters an album with

MEGA JOB FAIR
The Fort Hood Soldier For Life-Transition Assistance Program hosts their next Mega Job Fair from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sept. 15 at Club Hood. The event will feature more than 140 local,
state, national and international employers, as well as technical trade school representatives. Parking at Club Hood is only available to job fair vendors, support staff and disabled parking. Job seekers may park at
Hood Stadium (off Clear Creek Road), on 22nd and 23rd streets (east of First Army Division West Headquarters) between Battalion and Old Battalion avenues or at the Warrior Way Exchange. There is no bus service in the
area between First Army Div. West and 3rd Cavalry Regiment. It is a two-block walk to Club Hood. For more information, call 288-0827/288-2227/553-6363.

PX OPENING POSTPONED
Based on required inspections and additional construction details that need completing, the grand opening of Fort Hood's Clear Creek Shopping
Center is being pushed back to September. The shopping center had been set to open Aug. 27. The exact date of the grand opening is still being finalized.

SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER
Fort Hood officials want to remind everyone that with school beginning, safety is a priority. Fort Hood Military Police are asking drivers to
exercise extra caution when driving and to pay additional attention at traffic lights and crossing areas. Drivers are urged to watch for children
loading and unloading buses. The Fort Hood Police Traffic Section will begin selective law enforcement throughout the installation Monday. They will
continue enforcement in housing areas and in school zones. The Traffic Section will also provide speed control trailers near the schools on
installation. Their priority will be ensuring the school zones and housing areas are safe before and after school.
