    Buffalo Soldier Monument

We take great pride that we are the home of the Buffalo Soldiers and to honor the African-Americans who served in the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments. Eddie Dixon was the sculptor. View the Buffalo Soldier Monument page.

Who We Are

U. S. Army Garrison Fort Leavenworth is the oldest continuously active military reservation west of the Mississippi River. This historic post is noted for the campus-like setting, open green spaces and hometown character.

Army garrisons, also called installations or posts, are communities that provide many of the same types of services expected from any city government. We also support the Senior Commander and the Units / Tenants that reside on the post.

We look forward to serving you upon your arrival, and hope that your experience, while living or visiting here, leaves a lasting impression as you enjoy the "Best Hometown in the Army".
