Thirteen states were affected by Hurricane Sandy and will receive funding under the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act (the Act) passed by Congress to assist individuals and businesses impacted by the hurricane.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has distributed funding to the states to reimburse for work already completed, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded Phase I of the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to the states. New Jersey, New York, and New York City submitted internal plans to HUD on how the CDBG funding will be spent; Connecticut, Maryland and Rhode Island have posted internal plans for public comment. When they are approved by HUD, they will be posted.
