FederalTransparency.gov was created by the Recovery Accountability & Transparency Board

 to display information on specific spending initiatives assigned to the Board by Congress. The Board collects and displays spending data for the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act covering Hurricane Sandy and for the Education Jobs Fund.

On January 29, 2013, the $50B Disaster Relief Appropriations bill to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy was signed into law. The bill provides that the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board is to use all its oversight resources to prevent fraud, waste and abuse of the funding.
